Meet Your Child's Dentists
Dr. Mark Krause
Dr. Mark Krause received his dental degree from Howard University College of Dentistry. He then completed a two year General Practice Residency at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital. During his second year Dr. Mark focused his training treating both children and patients with special needs in a clinical, as well as a hospital setting.
Dr. Mark is the immediate past president of the Eastern Shore Dental Society. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, The Salisbury Dental Study Club and the Gnathos Orthodontic Study Club. He continues to educate himself and keeps up to date with evidence-based dentistry on treatment of children by attending extensive courses throughout the year.
Dr. Mark and his wife, Kara, grew up locally and currently reside in Salisbury with their dog Houser. Upon their return to the area in 2008, Dr. Mark initially practiced with Dr. Jerry. From 2011 until his return to the practice Dr. Mark served the community as a staff dentist for Three Lower Counties (TLC) in Princess Anne, Maryland. He was proud to be the dental director from February of 2013 to October of 2015. Dr. Mark and his wife enjoy spending time with family and friends. They have an interest in music, biking, the beach and travel.
Dr. Jerry Krause
It has been an honor and a pleasure to have the opportunity to provide care to so many families all these years. It will be the relationships developed that I will miss the most.
I have been blessed to have had so many caring staff members assist in our efforts. I thank them all, especially my wife Joan.
Having Dr. Mark take the helm with a splendid staff in support will ensure that friendly, high quality care will continue.

We are currently accepting new patients ages 1-21! Our office is open Tuesday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm and Monday and Friday from 9am to 2pm. We regularly extend office hours during scheduled holidays and try our best to accommodate your busy schedule when scheduling all appointments! We have found that children under the age of 6 and/or those requiring extensive dental work are more comfortable being seen the first half of the day allowing them a more positive experience. Additionally, certain orthodontic appointments requiring more time and attention are also scheduled in the morning

When you arrive for your first visit, you and your child will be greeted with a fun environment and friendly staff! If you have dental insurance, please bring the information with you so we can file an electronic claim on your behalf. Also, you will need to complete a form that will help us get acquainted with your child’s health history.
Please download, print and complete these forms and bring them with you to your first visit.
Your initial visit will provide a caring, friendly introduction to our dental practice. The time you and your child spend with us will be focused on the instruction of proper hygiene techniques, growth and development evaluations, nutrition counseling as well as a comprehensive exam that will outline existing dental or orthodontic concerns.
The best way to prepare your child for the first visit is to make it as natural as possible. Try to suppress your own anxieties. Dental care has improved tremendously in recent years. Your child’s dental experience will probably be vastly different from those you had. Our patients actually love to come back to the dentist because we have made their experiences so fun and positive!
After you and your child have met Dr. Mark and our team and we have discussed some valuable techniques you can use at home, we will ask the parents to wait in the reception room. We have found that children over the age of 2 have a more positive experience when their parents are in the reception room during treatment. This allows us to establish a direct relationship with your child. Our clinical area is open, allowing the children to interact with each other and enjoy the entertainment and care of our dental assistants at all times.
When should I take my child to the dentist for the first time?
The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry both recommend that a child see a dentist within six months of the first tooth appearing or by their first birthday. This should be the beginning of a positive relationship that will last through college. It also allows us to monitor growth and development and intercept any problems while they are still simple and easier to treat. We accept patients from infancy through college.
Why see a children’s dentist if my family dentist is willing to provide care?
For the same reason you take your child to a pediatrician. Children are not just small adults, and have unique needs, physically and emotionally. Dr. Mark limits his practice to treating infants, toddlers, children and teens only.
Dr. Mark Krause is a general dentist limiting his practice to children. He has been seeing only children as patients
for many years. His focus is in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Dr. Mark is qualified and experienced in the dental needs of infants, children, and adolescents.
Why Choose a Children's Dentist?
A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education.
Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.
